What's going on, where it's going on, who's doing it: details on this year's 'Kiwi Shoe Aid for Africa' project.
Collection:
Kiwi, together with Humana, will install shoe collection boxes in major hypermarkets and supermarkets in various European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK). The boxes will be placed for several weeks, allowing enough time for consumers to deposit the shoes. Every week Humana will pick up all the shoes from these collection boxes and will bring them to their warehouses.

Type of shoes that are needed:
Children’s and adult´s boots and shoes
Practical shoes
Used, but still useful shoes

Other requirements:
Please, clean the shoes before donating (no dust or mud)
No broken laces or soles, or any major damage
No spiky high heels or snow boots

Sorting:
During the month of November and December, all the pairs of shoes collected will be sorted and cleaned in the Humana warehouse, put in individual bags and shipped to Africa. This process is crucial to ensure that the delivered shoes are in good conditions enough to be used for the African people.

Delivery:
From December 2009 to April 2010, all the shoes will be distributed in rural areas of several African countries. These areas have been selected by Humana and Kiwi and the shoe distribution process will be entirely managed by Humana and Kiwi combined teams to ensure that the shoes arrive directly to the people who need them most. The African countries where the shoes will be delivered are: Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa.
